Signal Ridge/The Princess & The Peasant/Pinot Noir & Carignan

I recently visited Anderson valley, and stopped in at Signal Ridge.I have enjoyed these wines, and now want to share two more with you.The story is amazing and the wines are great! First we look at the story and the tasting notes. In 1999, Roger Scommegna planted a small vineyard on top of Cold Spring Mountain, 9 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, in the Mendocino Ridge appellation. Overlooking picturesque Anderson Valley at an elevation of 2,642 feet, The Signal Ridge Vineyard is the highest altitude vineyard in all of Mendocino, Sonoma and Napa counties. This challenging ridgetop terroir produces unique high end singular fruit. Signal Ridge wines are created through the teamwork, trust and cooperation connecting the Scommegna family and Anderson Valley. Winemaker Nicole Scommegna and Assistant Winemaker Stephanie Rivin employ both hard-earned expertise and good-humored trial and error to produce the perfect end product. Fruit from each vineyard is crushed, fermented and aged separately before going through blending trials to find the right recipe for each wine. 2013 Princess and the Peasant "Signal Ridge Vineyard" Mendocino Ridge Pinot Noir SKU #1199114 Cool climate Pinot Noir from a new brand that's sourced this wine from the Mendocino Ridge AVA in western Mendocino County, an innovative AVA that was established only for vineyards above 1,200 feet, or "above the clouds." We have two wines and the Carignan is very special. This is a wine that will become an instant favorite. We should open both bottles and enjoy a few different dishes with these great wines from Signal Ridge.
