Domaine Anderson/Anderson Valley Chardonnays/Jerry Murray
I'm very excited to be in Anderson Valley.A great new winery in this region is Domaine Anderson. We will open 3 Chardonnays from this winery, but first let's meet the winemaker and check out tasting notes on these wines.
Winemaker
As Domaine Anderson’s Winemaker, Jerry Murray works closely with the Domaine Anderson team to produce wines that express the singular character of our vineyards. A 13-year career dedicated to world class Pinot Noir, spanning three continents and eight wineries, led Jerry to Domaine Anderson. Today, his complex, energetic and precise character, and convivial personality is completely reflected in our wines.
Jerry’s passion, knowledge and artistry have matured over a long career dedicated to developing a deep understanding and appreciation for the unique nature of Pinot Noir winemaking. He has traveled throughout the world, from Oregon to New Zealand to Germany, honing his skills at such prestigious estates as Martinborough Vineyards, Weingut Slebach – Oster, J&H Selbach, Chehalem Winery and Patton Valley Vineyards. Jerry now makes his home the Anderson Valley, where he lives with his wife and daughter. We have three Chardonnay and we look forward to pairing these wines with a number of different dishes.
2012 Chardonnay
Walraven Vineyard
193 cases produced
A wine of exceptional elegance, purity and transparency, the 2012 Walraven Vineyard Chardonnay displays delicate and complex aromas of wheat straw, white flowers, talc, yellow apple and aromatic wood. The wine’s entry is a study in elegance and sophistication; polished, silky and pure. Though voluminous, the wine moves effortlessly across the mid-palate. offering a core of perfectly enveloped acidity and offering delicate flavors of yellow apples, firm but ripe peaches and chamomile tea. The wine’s finish is tenacious as the texture turns creamy and offers a momentary hint of Meyer lemon and sweet oak.
Aging potential: Now to 2016
Nestled in the breathtaking, fog–cooled hillside and mountain terrain of the Anderson Valley,
Domaine Anderson is located near the small, pioneering wine growing community of Philo. The cooling marine layer and varied terroir that is characteristic of this Northern California coastal region provides perfect conditions for the cultivation of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.
It was the region’s ideal grape growing conditions that led Jean Claude Rouzaud, Chairman of Louis Roederer, to this remote corner of Mendocino County in the early 1980’s. In search of the perfect vineyard sites in which to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, Rouzaud knew the remote Valley’s sloping hillsides and cooler climate would provide optimal conditions for the fulfillment of his vision – to produce world-class wines of the highest standards of distinction.
Since those early days of discovery, the Rouzaud family has acquired land Let's join Jerry and learn more, as he just opened these great wines. Cheers! Click here and join us as we enjoy three great Chardonnays from Domaine Anderson.
