Domaine Anderson /Jerry Murray/Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
After tasting and pairing the Chardonnays from Domaine Anderson,I knew we were in for a treat, when we got to the Pinot Noirs from Domaine Anderson.jerry Murray is a great story,as he has taken over this project.Let's check out some of the stories, tasting notes, and other points of interest. As Domaine Anderson’s Winemaker, Jerry Murray works closely with the Domaine Anderson team to produce wines that express the singular character of our vineyards. A 13-year career dedicated to world class Pinot Noir, spanning three continents and eight wineries, led Jerry to Domaine Anderson. Today, his complex, energetic and precise character, and convivial personality is completely reflected in our wines.
Jerry’s passion, knowledge and artistry have matured over a long career dedicated to developing a deep understanding and appreciation for the unique nature of Pinot Noir winemaking. He has traveled throughout the world, from Oregon to New Zealand to Germany, honing his skills at such prestigious estates as Martinborough Vineyards, Weingut Slebach – Oster, J&H Selbach, Chehalem Winery and Patton Valley Vineyards. Jerry now makes his home the Anderson Valley, where he lives with his wife and daughter. Dach Vineyard
125 cases produced
A fine example of classic Pinot Noir, showcasing the individual character of the Dach Vineyard. This wine is elegant and restrained and displays a broad range of delicate aromas; red cherries, graham cracker, licorice and fresh turned earth. Each takes center stage atop a complex, mysterious and dark core. Supple best describes the wine’s texture. The mid palate is a study in purity; clear as a bell black cherry flavors, well delineated vanilla and blueberry. Adding interest and complexity to the wine’s forward fruit are subtle layers of spice, herbs and berries. The wine finishes patiently, with a lingering of sweet cherry fruit.
Aging potential: Now to 2020. Pinot Noir
Anderson Valley
A bright and lucid expression of Pinot Noir’s captivating virtues, this wine fills the palate with black cherry, raspberry, and sumptuous red plum. A breath of clove lends perfect balance to this wine. Beneath its silkiness lies a core of tannin emboldened by acidity, showing energy and graceful agility. Not to be defined by the dominant fruits, the mid-palate reveals a compelling extension of tenebrous earth notes. Molasses and a hint of sweet oak are woven in, creating depth and sustained intrigue. The finish is striking with vitality and charm. Vintage: 2012
2012 has, so far been a positive year for wineries around the world. While it may be a little too early to speak of the wines being made in the northern hemisphere, European and North American wineries have already begun reporting that their harvesting season has been generally very good, and are predicting to continue with the kind of successes they saw in 2011. However, 2012 has been something of a late year for France, due to unpredictable weather throughout the summer, and the grapes were ripening considerably later than they did in 2011 (which was, admittedly, an exceptionally early year). French wineries are claiming, though, that this could well turn out to be advantageous, as the slow ripening will allow the resulting wines to express more flavour and features of the terroir they are grown in. The southern hemisphere has seen ideal climatic conditions in most of the key wine producing countries, and Australia and New Zealand particularly had a superb year, in particular with the Bordeaux varietal grapes that grow there and which love the humidity these countries received plenty of. Also enjoying a fantastic year for weather were wineries across Argentina and Chile, with the Mendoza region claiming that 2012 will be one of their best vintages of the past decade. Similar claims are being made across the Chilean wine regions, where Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon had an especially good year. These two grape varietals also produced characterful wines on the coastal regions of South Africa this year. We have three Pinot Noirs ,and we are now ready for great food to pair with these wines. We saved you a seat, please join us!Cheers! Click here and enjoy the wines of Domaine Anderson with us.
