Though somewhat brooding at first, the nose quickly opens up to reveal mesmerizing layers of dark chocolate, damp earth, porcini mushroom, cherry, plum and dried cranberry. On the palate, this mix of savory and sweet elements continues, gaining depth and momentum as the wine reveals itself in evermore-nuanced layers. Cocoa is also present in this medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, rich wine that should age nicely for up to 8-10 years.
