New Releases From Patz and Hall/ Chardonnay and Pinot Noir/Hyde Vineyard

We will have two new wines today, and these are new releases from Patz and Hall. We will check out the tasting notes and tell you of the history of these incredible wines from Patz and Hall. We have a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the fabled Hyde Vineyard. If vineyards were rated they would all follow Hyde as the premiere vineyard in northern California. 100% Chardonnay (Hyde-Wente Selection) grown on well-drained sandy clay loam in the hills of Napa Carneros. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed and the juice goes into barrels for a 100% indigenous (wild) yeast fermentation and full malo-lactic fermentation in the barrels. The wine is aged 1o months on the lees with regular stirring in all Burgundian French oak barrels (60% new) and bottled without filtration. Gold in color with green highlights and well formed legs; dry, medium-full-bodied with freshly balanced acidity. Deep and rich but with elegance and balance. The 2014 vintage is a standout, and I love this wine.Rich enough for sauces and balanced as each sip leaves you going back for more.I enjoyed pairing these two wines together,as we move on to the 2014 Hyde Vineyard Pinot Noir from Patz and Hall. Robert Parker wrote, "Patz & Hall has a long and enviable track record … They rarely miss a beat, and the wines are ‘sure bets’ regardless of vintage conditions … these are consistently well-made wines from Patz & Hall that merit significant attention from all serious wine consumers.” Great depth and complexity. Bright cherry, raspberry and citrus zest mix with balanced Carneros earthy notes and a touch of oak spice. Many have tried to put these wines to words,I simple say we consider the source and the winemaker, and we come up with Pinot Noir perfection.I think this wine is the wine you open when you have friends for dinner that really know wines."Tonight we have the chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Patz and Hall!"Oh I love them. Both are Hyde Vineyard and 2014....."Do me a favor...take a picture of their faces when they enjoy their first glass! Both wines are on the table, and we have Maine lobster and Filet with Bearnaise Sauce.Fresh steamed veggies, and cheese potatoes. We will follow with a few older features from Patz and Hall. Thanks for dropping in!Maybe one more glass before you go?Cheers!
